Yale Instrument Museum is a wonderful example of a Neo-Romanesque C1880 brownstone building. The original windows frames and sash had fallen into disrepair and needed restoration. The Cooper Group of North Stonington, CT was contracted to restore the window frames, sash and trim. The original 1880’s glass had been largely replace over the years and RenovoGlass™ was chosen for the job!

All the original windows have now been replaced with a hybrid low-e insulated glass with RenovoGlass™ C1880’s finish. Below is an detail of the reflective character of the glass. Custom designed utilizing a patent pending process to replicate the nuance of historic glass from this period it makes a very authentic window and allows a much higher energy performance which is critical for this building. The museum is home to some of the most sensitive historic instruments in North America and drafty low performing windows were unacceptable. Utilizing a state of the art low-e coating helps keeps the temperature and humidities constant to protect these important treasures. It was a great privilege to be part of the project and happily a great success.
